Four abandoned or taken-down places in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Here I introduce four places which do not exist anymore in New Mexico´s biggest city:
Jack´s Smoke Shop & auto repair shop on 4th St, Murphy´s Mule Barn Cafe, Yester Daves Grill and Alamo Rent A Car Airport station on Yale Blvd.
Jack´s Smoke Shop
The business used to be a tobacco store on 10634 4th St., Alameda, North-Albuquerque where 4th and 2nd St unite for Hwy 556.
There was also an auto repair shop nearby, but already closed and for sale in the early 1990s. The Smoke Shop finally closed as well and all the facilities were
removed. The photos and video were taken in April 1993.
The following photos show how the area looks like today (2018).
Murphy´s Mule Barn Cafe
Located on 9700 2nd St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114 the place used to be a popular diner serving New Mexican homestyle breakfast and
lunch dishes. The restaurant closed unfortunately. The picture and video are from April 1993.
Yester Daves Grill
If you wanted to travel back into the 1950s, Yester Daves was probably the right place.
Red leather seats, music boxes and cars on display were just some examples of the stylish interior; not to forget to mention the waiters´ oufits. The building was replaced by nowadays Savoy Bar & Grill on 10601 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuquerque.
Alamo Rent A Car Albuquerque Airport
2601 Yale Blvd SE
The rental station moved to University Blvd and the building was replaced by nowadays Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Airport.
